ACFD 600 Personal Development I

In this course, faculty participants will develop and expand upon high-level personal competencies foundational to success in faculty appointments. Focus will be on self-assessments, strategic career planning, fostering personal and professional relationships, and advanced time management. Prerequisite: Faculty interested in enrolling in ACFD 600, Personal Development I, will first need to be admitted to the Academic Foundations Certificate program. Program prerequisites include (but are not limited to) a current, full time faculty appointment at an accredited university. Participation in this program requires prior approval from faculty chair/chief as appropriate.

ACFD 601 Scholarship Development I

In this course, faculty participants will develop and expand upon high-level personal competencies foundational to success in faculty appointments. Focus will be on core competencies in research and scholarship, including adopting strategies of successful writers, finding and applying for funding opportunities, and identifying research resources. Prerequisite: Faculty interested in enrolling in ACFD 601, Scholarship Development I, will first need to be admitted to the Academic Foundations Certificate program and complete ACFD 600, Personal Development I. Overall program prerequisites include (but are not limited to) a current, full time faculty appointment at an accredited university. Participation in this program requires prior approval from faculty chair/chief as appropriate.

ACFD 602 Personal Development II

In this course, faculty participants will develop and expand upon high-level personal competencies foundational to success in faculty appointments. Focus will be on personal skills that support academic career success in networking, negotiation, crucial conversations, long-term career planning, and advanced time and energy management through independent or collaborative work on a keystone project. Prerequisite: Faculty interested in enrolling in ACFD 602, Personal Development II will first need to be admitted to the Academic Foundations Certificate program, and complete ACFD 600, Professional Development I, and ACFD 601, Scholarship Development I. Program prerequisites include (but are not limited to) a current, full time faculty appointment at an accredited university. Participation in this program requires prior approval from faculty chair/chief as appropriate.

ACFD 603 Scholarship Development II

In this course, faculty participants will develop and expand upon high-level personal competencies foundational to success in faculty appointments. Focus will be on developing specialized competencies in research and scholarship, including managing funding, fostering collaborations, and hiring, on-boarding, and supervising staff and trainee support through independent or collaborative work on a keystone project. Prerequisite: Faculty interested in enrolling in ACFD 603, Scholarship Development II, will first need to be admitted to the Academic Foundations Certificate program and complete ACFD 600, Personal Development I; ACFD 601, Scholarship I; and ACFD 602, Personal Development II. Overall program prerequisites include (but are not limited to) a current, full time faculty appointment at an accredited university. Participation in this program requires prior approval from faculty chair/chief as appropriate.
