Nursing & Healthcare Leadership, MSN

Program Description:

This 10 CU online Nursing & Healthcare Leadership MSN program develops leaders who are equipped to improve healthcare delivery by applying knowledge of systems thinking, quality improvement, population health, emerging technologies, and value-based care delivery models.  Students engage with expert faculty, alumni, and leaders in the field to develop a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare industry.  Graduates typically pursue leadership roles in healthcare operations management, consulting, project management, and quality improvement/patient safety.

Since our program includes an elective students can acquire additional acumen in various leadership areas i.e., patient safety/quality improvement, academic teaching/professional development, or concurrently pursue other master’s degrees i.e., Health Quality and Safety, Public Health, or Health Law.  Culminating with capstone experiences often in their work place, students apply leadership skills gained in their coursework to complete an organizational project. For those interested in healthcare consulting, we also sponsor an internship at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Program Outcomes:

By the end of this MSN program, students will demonstrate competencies in systems-based leadership to:

  • Develop cost-effective care delivery models to facilitate equitable access to healthcare services across the care continuum.
  • Create inclusive and healthy work environments to enhance clinician well-being and practice outcomes.
  • Apply scientific evidence to improve patient safety and provide high-quality healthcare for patients and populations.
