Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures: Arabic & Islamic Studies, Minor
Arabic and Language and Literature focuses on competence in the Arabic language and the study of Arabic literature in all periods and genres. Because of the broad cultural importance of Arabic, primary emphasis is on gaining mastery of the language alongside coursework in history, religion, literature, and culture.

Minors in Arabic Language and Literature must take MELC 0002 Introduction to the Middle East as a breadth requirement. Other credits may be fulfilled in Arabic, Persian or Turkish. Arabic, Persian or Turkish culture courses to be chosen in consultation with the advisor.
